Davanibailu
In the 12th century, Araga Hadinentu Kampana was a huge central point famous for the great trade and commerce of that time. Today’s Davanibailu was a large plain outside the vast town of Araga, which was close to all the roads connecting the Ghat region and the coast.
Here is the Sri Kapileshwara Temple, which is built of granite stone and its architecture is in the Hoysala style of the 12th century. The Peetha of this temple includes the elements of Upapitha, Jagati, Kumuda, Kantha, Kapotha. The temple is divided into three main parts i.e. garbhagriha, navaranga and main hall.
The exterior wall of the main mandapam of this temple has various north and south Indian gopuram designs carved on it. In a sow list, a dog and a tiger are tamed and wear a collar. In this list, it is interesting to see a yogi in yoga mudra with a plank placed on one leg, legs folded on it, a strap tied around the legs and waist.
