Kadidal Manjappa
Kadidal Manjappa was born in 1908 at Harohalli in Thirthahalli Taluk of Shivamogga District. He studied at Thirthahalli, Shivamogga, Bangalore and Mysore and obtained his B.A. degree. Kadidal Manjappa obtained his law degree from Poona.
Manjappa got darshan of Gandhiji in 1927 and converted to his principles and became a Gandhian since then. He started his career as a lawyer in Shivamogga in 1935. Later in 1938, he left his profession as a lawyer and participated in the Flag Satyagraha held at Shivpur in Madur as a member of the Congress Party.
He was elected to the Mysore Praja Pratinidhi Sabe in 1941 from Thirthahalli Constituency. In 1952, Kengal Hanumantaiah was elected to the Legislative Assembly from Thirthahalli Constituency and became the Minister of Revenue and Public Works in Navara Mantri Mandal. He became the Chief Minister of the state for 75 days from August to October 1956.
