Chibbalagudde
Chibbalagudde is a tourist destination in Thirthahalli Taluk of Shivamogga District. It is 70.2 km from Shivamogga in the district. It is 09 km from Thirthahalli.
Chibbalgudde is situated on the banks of the famous river Tunga. There is a Srisiddhivinayak temple here. Sanctified by the penance of many sages, this region holds special significance even today. People suffering from chibbu or sibbu disease come here and pray that they will put rice or mandakki for the fish in the river and make fruit for God, the disease will be cured. Hence the name of this area is Chibbalagudde. Watching the fish in the river here is a pleasure.
Tunga river coming through Sringeri flows from Thirthahalli to Mandagadde Shimoga through Chibbalgudde. Chibbalagudde can be found if you travel on Hedduru, Kattehakkallu route from Thirthahalli. Between Dabbannagadde and Nambala village, the abundance of fish in Tunga river attracts people. The Sri Siddhivinayak temple here has a huge number of devotees. On Sankashta Chaturthi, devotees arrive not only from Thirthahalli but also from outer districts and taluks.
